If shopping is your thing then Santa Monica has plenty to offer. With two separate shopping malls and a diverse set of boutique stores, Santa Monica has a store for you. The two malls are Third Street Promenade and Santa Monica Place. Then there is Main Street which has nice collection of boutique stores and finally Montana Avenue which delivers upscale fashion boutique stores.
Third Street Promenade: Three blocks located on 3rd street in Santa Monica were converted into a pedestrian mall in the 1960s. It has an eclectic selection of stores and restaurants. Some of the stores include Gap, Forever 21, Apple, American Eagle, Armani Exchange, Banana Republic, and many more.
Santa Monica Place: Built in 1980 Santa Monica Place was originally an indoor mall designed by Frank Gehry. It was renovated from 2008 to 2010 to a new modern outdoor mall. Its stores are higher end retail and include Coach, Barney’s, Nordstrom, Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Nike, and many others.
Main Street: Main street Santa Monica is a very hip and trendy street with a laid back feel. It is two blocks from the beach and houses a number of boutique shops and restaurants. Some of the stores are American Apparel, Buffalo Exchange, Bumble Bee, Fedora Primo, Paris 1900, and many more.
Montana Avenue: You can think of Montana Avenue as a laid back alternative to Rodeo Drive. A ten block stretch includes over 150 boutique and retail shops. Some of the stores include Citron, Planet Blue, the blues Jean Bar, Michael Stars, Estell Boutique, and much more.
